KO SAMUI ISLAND

Our new destination for Winter 2024/25!

Your learning paradise for kitesurf and efoil

Year round natural blessing

The second biggest island of the country, located at 25km from the coast in the Gulf of Thailand, Ko Samui can be reached by plane directly from Bangkok, or with a bus or train ride with a ferry connection at Surat Thani.

Part of a national parc composed of an archipelago formed by 85 islands, Ko Samui is rich in natural resources. Its main economic activity was initially that of fishing, then the extraction from coconut trees, and more recently tourism. Beautiful white sand beaches and corals have attracted an increasing international clientele.

The climate is pleasant year round, relatively dry with temperatures around 30 degrees celcius. The island is blessed with constant light winds during the winter months.

Kitesurfing Spot and School

Eastern winds blow from November to March, so during the winter months Mahalo Kiteschool is based in the Shiva Resort in the South-East of the island. Winds hit the shore safely side-on. Moreover, the spot is protected by a reef, which makes the waters calmer. Ideal conditions for learning kitesurfing are also completed by the sandy bottom coupled with shallowness of the water:

During the summer months the island gets hit by winds from the opposite Western direction, characterized by less stable weather conditions. Different spots are then better for practicing kitesurfing, mostly in the North and West sde of the island.
