ZANZIBAR - TANZANIA
JAMBIANI
Only 7 km from the better known spot of Paje, the fishermen's town of Jambiani also shares this huge lagoon with excellent conditions for progessing in Kitesurfing. The reef that protects the bay from the rough ocean is recognizable from its nice waves that make it a perfect setting for strapless riding and downwinders.
EXOTIC WILDLIFE
Although not as wild as the mainland of Tanzania, Zanzibar's fauna is composed of some species that are worth finding.
The Changuu Island, just 5 km north off the coast from Stone Town hosts the giant Tortoises weighing around 100kg. Imported from the Seychelles in the 19th century, some can be as old as 100 years.
In the Jozani Park, the only national park in Zanzibar, can be found the endemic species of the Red Monkey. Considered an endangered specie, it is worth supporting its preservation.
Marine fauna found are mostly dolphins and whales outside the reef, in the Indian Ocean.
